RECREATION POSITION: Traveling Hockey Coach – Hockey Program
Brief Description: Responsible for the teaching of the basic fundamentals of hockey.
Demonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques and methods of proper movements to achieve proficiency in activity. Explains and enforces safety, rules, regulations & sportsmanship. Keeps records, collects fees and conducts events. Is also responsible for keeping the supervisors, District Office and parents informed of activities and problems. Extensive travel is required with this position.
Experience: Previous coaching experience preferably with hockey required. Knowledge of how to play the game of hockey, it’s rules and experience working with youth around the ages of 12-14 years required. Must have excellent communication skills with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Minimum Age Requirement: 19 Years & Up
Current Drivers License Required: Yes
Other Required Certifications: Must attend and keep current U.S.A. Hockey Coaching Education Card and have Level 1 & Level 2 certification before season begins.
Hours of Work: Monday – Sunday, 25-30 hours per week (may change) [No Wednesday’s].
Other: This program runs from October through early March. Taking extended time off during this period is strongly discouraged and will not be guaranteed unless supervisor is notified and approves.
RECREATION POSITION: In-House Hockey Coach – Hockey Program
Brief Description: Responsible for the teaching of basic fundamental hockey skills. Ability to teach and demonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques and methods of proper movements to achieve proficiency in activity. Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations along with sportsmanship. Is responsible for understanding of the participants between the ages of 5-11 years old. Is also responsible for keeping the Supervisor, Park District Office and parents informed of any problems or schedule changes. Must have a positive attitude and be very enthusiastic. Excellent communication skills a must.
Minimum Age Requirement: 15 Years & Up

Hours of Work: Monday – Saturday, possibly up to 25 hours per week [No Wed or Sun].
RECREATION POSITION: Instructor – Skating Program
Brief Description: Responsible for the teaching of the basic fundamentals of skating.
Demonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques and methods of proper movements to achieve proficiency in activity. Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations. Keeps records, collects fees and conducts events. Is also responsible for keeping the supervisors, District Office and parents informed of activities and problems. Assistant position assists the Instructor in the above duties.
Experience: Prior coaching/teaching in skating program required for Instructor position. Some skating experience required for Assistant position. Both positions require previous experience working with young (elementary school age) children.
Minimum Age Requirement: 18 Years

Other Required Certifications: Must have completed Level 6 in USFSA Program.
Hours of Work: Varies. Approximately 5 – 20 hours/week.
Other: This program runs November through March. Taking extended time off during this period is strongly discouraged and will not be guaranteed. Please check with supervisor.
PARKS POSITION: Arena Worker
Brief Description: Arena maintenance and ice cleaning duties.
Experience: Experience in operating zamboni preferred.
Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years

Hours of Work: 15-30 hours per week. Nights and Weekend work required.

PARKS POSITION: Building Supervisor for Outdoor Skating Rinks
Brief Description: Responsible for the supervision and maintenance of park skating rink building. Explain and enforce park rules and regulations regarding outdoor rinks. Keep daily attendance records and complete proper forms. Maintain a safe and friendly environment for the youth in attendance. Must be able to communicate well with youth.
Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years of age
Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 3:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 12:00 noon – 8:30 p.m. (Must be flexible and able to share work schedule with other workers.)
Other: December through mid March weather permitting.
