BASKETBALL

Center Court Fitness Club now offers a summer outdoor basketball league for kids in grade 6-12.

  • Summer Basketball Academy: Basketball skills and drills- a six week camp focusing on fundamentals and fun games and exercise. Grades 2nd through 6th. Session begins June 3.
  • Superstar Shootout: This is a one day event for all players to show their skill in the game of basketball. Categories to participate in are as follows; free throw contest, three point contest and slam dunk contest. Saturday, June 21, 2008. Must Pre-Register!

EXERCISE AND FITNESS

GOLF

The Grand Forks Park District offers youth golf lessons and leagues through its two golf courses, King's Walk and Lincoln Park Golf Course. Golf professionals will teach your child the basic fundamentals of golf or for the more experienced player, will be challenged to the best of his or her ability. HOCKEY

The Grand Forks Park District's hockey program boasts one of the best development programs in the state, giving Greater Grand Forks youth an opportunity to develop their skills while competing in a high quality hockey environment. ICE SKATING

Ice skating classes are offered through the Border Blades Skating Club during the summer. A Termites and Mites Hockey School and Basic Skills Skating are available. 2008 Sessions and fees information will be posted in April 2008. Border Blades contact: Jessie Close, 772-1666.

 

JUST FOR FUN

The Just for Fun program is for kids age 4-10. This supervised program will be sure to keep your kids engaged in safe and fun activities in the park and on field trips. You must register at the Park District Office.

  • Juniors (children 4 and 5 years old): Activities designed to encourage participation in group games, arts and crafts, board games, "mini" field trips, and special events.
    Where: Ben Franklin Park, University Park and Kelly Park
    When: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - Noon

  • Big Kids (children 6-10 years old): Activities will include games, arts and crafts, field trips, special events, swim bus and more! (Must have attended Kindergarten)
    Where: Parks include; Ben Franklin, Cox, First Season Community Center, Jaycees, Kelly, Lincoln Drive, Lion's, Optimist, University and Winship School.
    When: Monday - Friday, 12:30 - 4:00 PM

RACQUETBALL

 

Lessons are designed to intorduce youth to the fast and fun sport of racquetball. It's easy and inexpensive to get started. Racquets and eyewear will be provided if you don't have them.

SOCCER

 

Sunflake Soccer

Recreational soccer in the fall and spring for youth Pre-school through 6th grade sponsored by Sunflake Soccer and the Grand Forks Park District.

 

Greater Grand Forks Soccer Club

Offers a summer (May-July) competitive traveling soccer program for youth up to 19 years old, an indoor winter program (January & February), soccer camps, a youth soccer academy, and an annual tournament in June.

SOFTBALL

All girls are eligible to participate in the programs. Girls age 5-12 yrs. old are required to play at the park nearest their homes (University, Apollo, Viking (Cox), and Kelly. All girls must play in the league that corresponds to her age group unless permission is received from the Softball Supervisor. Ponytail girls will report to Apollo Park.

TRACK

The Grand Forks Park District offers Monday Evening Meets for 4-14 year olds. A detailed list of events and times per age group is located on page 2 of the 2008 Spring and Summer Activities Guide.

Also offered through the Park District is the annual Hershey Track Meet. Participants must be 9-14 years of age as of 12/31/08. All participants who have qualified for the State HS Track Meet are ineligible. Contact Bill Palmiscno at the Park District Office for more information, 746-2750.

 

TRAPSHOOT
