COVID-19 | Organizational Update

The Grand Forks Park District is committed to the health and safety of our community and staff.

During the Park Board of Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, May 5th, the GF Park District’s tentative 3-phase plan was announced in anticipation of a slow reopening of recreational facilities and summer programs.

The reopening plan was developed in coordination with Governor Burgum’s ND Smart Restart Guidelines and President Trump’s Reopening America Guidelines and is based upon the recommendations of our federal, state and local government; the CDC; the National Recreation & Parks Association; various national sporting associations; and the Department of Public Health.

Tentative 3-Phase Reopening Plan

  • Restrict Group Sizes of 10 or Less People
  • 6ft. Social Distancing & Sanitation Protocols
  • Select Recreation
  • No Large Events
PHASE 2
  • Restrict Group Sizes of 50 or Less People
  • 6ft. Social Distancing & Sanitation Protocols
  • Limited Recreation Programs
  • No Large Events
PHASE 3
  • Most Recreation Facilities Open

GF Park District Main Office
  • The GF Park District Administrative Office is open to the public.
    • Only one person is allowed in the office lobby at the time.

    • Social distancing and COVID-19 safety guidelines are in place.

Park Community Rooms
  • Community Rooms are currently closed in an effort to reduce transmission from the public congregating in groups of 10 or more.
Athletic Complexes
Abbott Basketball Complex
  • Abbott Basketball Complex is OPEN | Players should follow social distancing guidelines.
Kraft Field
  • Kraft Field is currently closed in an effort to reduce transmission from players congregating during play and not following social distancing practice.
Bringewatt Soccer Complex
  • Bringewatt Soccer Complex is currently closed in an effort to reduce transmission from players congregating during play and not following social distancing practice.
Sand Volleyball Complexes
  • Sand Volleyball Complex is currently closed in an effort to reduce transmission from players congregating during play and not following social distancing practice.
Rydell Skatepark
  • Rydell Skatepark is currently closed in an effort to reduce transmission from skaters congregating not following social distancing practice.
Ice Arenas & Community Center
  • All arenas are CLOSED until further notice.
  • All private ice rentals are cancelled. Lessees will receive refunds.
  • All programs and events at arena facilities are cancelled.
  • First Season Community Center (located in Purpur Arena) is closed for the season.
Choice Health & Fitness
  • Choice Health & Fitness will now open with limited access.

Summer Programs
  • The Grand Forks Park District is thrilled to offer limited recreational youth programs that are adaptable to social distancing regulations. If ND Smart Restart Protocols does not recommend youth programming this summer, we plan to postpone programs or issue refunds/credits.
  • Online Registration for limited summer recreational programming is available now for programs starting July 6th.

Summer Events
  • Drive-in Movies
    • The GF Park District will be hosting two Drive-in Movie events at the old Macy’s parking lot on June 10 and June 25.

  • All other annual large community events hosted by the Grand Forks Park District, such as Summerthing Kids and Family Fun Night, will be cancelled this year if large crowd restrictions are still in place.
Golf Courses

King’s Walk Golf Course

  • King’s Walk Golf Course is open to the public.
  • Multiple COVID-19 policies and procedures are in place to keep our golfers and staff safe during this time.
  • Golfers can purchase green fees, daily cart seat fees, and membership season passes online at kingswalk.org

Lincoln Golf Course

  • Lincoln Golf Course is open to the public.

Forestry Department
  • Spring tree planting is cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation
